ROUTINE RUNNING TIPS

BOB O'BILLOVICH, a seasoned coach with experience in the CFL, including his time with the Toronto Argonauts. Bob O'Billovich had one Grey Cup win as a head coach, which was in 1983 with the Toronto Argonauts. They defeated the BC Lions 18-17 in the Grey Cup game held at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver. O'Billovich is also notable for being the Argonauts' all-time leader in seasons coached, games coached, and wins. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2015.

O'BILLOVICH, shares his expertise on routine running;

 

  • Precision is key: A good route runner needs to be precise with their cuts and timing. Practice your routes regularly to develop muscle memory and improve your technique.

 

  •  Read the defence: Pay attention to the defence's alignment and adjust your route accordingly. Look for opportunities to exploit weaknesses and create separation.

 

  • Communication is crucial: Work with your quarterback to develop a strong understanding of the route and any adjustments that need to be made

  • Stay focused and disciplined; A good route runner needs to stay focused and disciplined, even when faced with pressure or coverage. Keep your eyes on the prize and execute your route to perfection.

 

  • Practice under game-like conditions: To prepare for game situations, practice your routes under game-like conditions. This will help you develop the skills and instincts needed to succeed in competition.
